Aston Martin has announced its Vantage Roadster, the convertible counterpart to the facelifted 2024 Vantage coupé. Deliveries begin in the second quarter of 2025.
The engine is the same as the coupé’s: a 4·0-litre twin-turbo V8 delivering 665 PS and 800 Nm, a substantial jump over the previous Roadster’s figures. The already stiffened aluminium structure and suspension have been modified to deal with the rearward shift in weight distribution, but top speed remains 325 km/h, the same as the coupé. It also reaches 100 km/h in 3·5 s.
Unequal-length double wishbones at the front, and a multi-link rear axle, and adaptive dampers help the Roadster with its handling and balance. The innovative traction control system has been carried over from the coupé.
The roof is a “Z-fold” one, which Aston Martin says is faster than a “K-fold” and does not require a tonneau cover. It can be raised or closed at speeds up to 50 km/h, and the roof folding operation takes a mere 6·8 s.
The lightweight approach means the Roadster is only 60 kg heavier than the coupé.
Inside is Aston Martin’s new proprietary infotainment system with a 10·25 in screen similar to the DB12’s. The 390 W 11-speaker audio system is standard, though a Bowers & Wilkins system designed for the Roadster’s interior volume is an option.
