The new Autocade
The Autocade logo has changed, and we’ll reveal more in due course. It hasn’t been done just because of æsthetics, though after 17½ years it was probably time for an update.

Autocade has reached 45 million page views since our launch in March 2008. The latest million has taken one and a half months to notch up—very healthy indeed. Doing the maths, we’re adding 17,387,989 to the 27,647,011 from the old server, arriving at 45,035,000. We had some concerns that there were bots and “AI” scrapers, as… Read More »Autocade reaches 45 million page views
This is unfortunate: our sister publication Lucire really rated the third-generation MG 3, but Euro NCAP gives a stark warning: during the frontal offset crash test, the driver’s seat latching mechanism failed. This is serious, and such a failure has never been seen before at Euro NCAP. The driver’s seat twisted part-way during the impact,… Read More »Serious seat mechanism failure on MG 3—Euro NCAP issues warning
This image, of President Donald J. Trump standing in front of a Russian car, a Zhiguli (or Kopeyka in the vernacular)—better known as a Lada to the rest of us—was really posted by the Grand Old Party, with the words ‘The One Big Beautiful Bill will drive the return of the great American car.’ Either… Read More »Make AvtoVAZ great again
We got there ahead of time: the main Autocade site has clocked up 44 million page views since we started in 2008. The counter is reading 16,356,122, which added to the 27,647,011 of the earlier installation, totals 44,003,133. This is with all known “AI” bots blocked, including ones that weren’t identified by one of the… Read More »Autocade now on 44 million page views
Before I started the Autocade website (I had been using the name prior as the motoring section of Lucire in print), I blogged about the BYD F0, or F1 as it was originally called. I called them out on the very obvious piracy—this was a Toyota Aygo clone—and BYD even went as far as to… Read More »Same old BYD?
Exactly two months since we cracked 42 million page views, we’re now on 43 million on the main site (15,364,474 plus 27,647,011 on the previous installation totals 43,011,485). We’re also serving 337,430 unique visitors per month there at the time of writing, though I noted in private correspondence we had cracked 300,000 during May. This… Read More »Autocade reaches 43 million page views
Our good friend Colin Miller, to whom Autocade Year of Cars 2025 is dedicated, has passed away, aged 88. Colin was a motorhead, like most of us connected to Autocade. I still remember having a conversation with him about a Mercury Marquis I spotted. I said it was a beautiful hardtop sedan, and I was… Read More »Farewell to Colin Miller, 1937–2025
Surprisingly, we have cracked 42 million page views in two months, and that’s with “AI” bot blocks. We’re also blocking bot activity from Semrush (there is a lot of attempted entry), and letting through Ahrefs in a controlled way (a page a day, I believe). I’ve detailed the maths elsewhere: the original site netted at… Read More »Autocade reaches 42 million page views
One of our regular visitors at the original Autocade reference got us thinking: now that that part of the site has no comment form, how can people give us feedback? The reasons for the form’s removal are here, and we haven’t found a replacement that we can easily install. So in the interests of hearing… Read More »Open forum: over to you
