Innocenti’s ADO16s

One of the regular types of updates we did on Facebook was letting followers know about the latest additions, whenever we finished a series of them. Therefore, not every update went through—that would have meant a crazy level of duplication. We restricted these to a recently completed series of cars (e.g. one model line, multiple generations). So, to kick off similar posts here—and to see if this might be the sort of content that will work here on Autocade World—we’re pleased to note that the Innocenti-made ADO16s are now in the encyclopædia.

The Innocenti Austin A40S has also been added as an entry separate to the A40 Farinas in the UK, since it was the one with a hatchback.

We noticed there are references to J4 and J5 for the latter two Innocenti-made ADO16s. The brochures often showed a stylized i that resembled a j, though an early one does have a more explicit, lowercase italic i, long before Hyundai got in the act. However, a later brochure shows a clear uppercase J.

We know the I stood for Innocenti. Also when in doubt, we go with the earliest official source, which, in this case, is a brochure making clear the car is the Innocenti Austin I4.

This does leave the marque page to be added, and all the Innocenti Minis of the original shape. The 950 Spyder and derivatives were added some time ago, as were the ones derived from the Bertone hatchback shape.
